Uber looks to fortify security!

In February, Uber was breached by a hacker that compromised 50,000 records. Since then Under has hired a Chief Security Officer and 25 employees in the security department. Since closing a new round of funding, Uber has increased the number of employees from 25 to 100 information security professionals.

This bold move will aid Uber in their plight to dethrone the cab industry and secure their application based service that is offered to the public. What Uber has learned and what most firms should realize quickly is that information security should be engrained in the culture of the firm.

Although we applaud Uber for reacting to the event wisely, most firms do not have the capital to withstand a breach, fines and improving their security department within the same year.
